Welcome... to Discover the Colne Valley, a web site that allows you to locate walks, activities, places to visit, transport links and facilities in the Colne Valley Regional Park.

In the menu bar click on “Archaeology” to find out about archaeological finds in the Colne Valley and “Historic Landscape” to discover the landscape has changed over time.

We are also interested in what wildlife you have spotted around the Colne Valley especially sightings of water voles, kingfishers, bluebells and any other wildlife of interest. Click on “Wildlife” in the menu bar to see where wildlife has been spotted or to report what you have seen.

To find out more on what to there is to do click on "Map" in the menu bar. A map out line of the Colne Valley Regional Park will be displayed with a tick box list of what can be found on the right of the screen. When you click on a tick box, for example "Country Parks", all the country parks in the Colne Valley will appear on the map. You can then choose to do a number of things:

  1. Use the zoom button to enlarge a section of the map to show roads and places in order to plan a route to where you wish to visit.
  2. Click on more tick box options to display the location of other places to visit, walks or facilities. For example you could click on railway stations or bus routes to see if the country park you plan to visit can be reached by public transport.
  3. Click on one of the country parks displayed on the map (or any other place, walk or facility displayed) to access further information.

You can make more places, walks, transport routes or facilities appear on the map by clicking on the appropriate tick box. Remember, though, the map may become crowded with information if you click to many tick boxes on. You can remove information from the map by clicking on the tick boxes in use which turns them off.

The tick box list of what can be discovered in the Colne Valley is quite long so you will have to move the list up and down with the scroll bar to see all the options
